2009/05/30 Saturday—09:45~11:45 GEPT Junior 全民英檢初級班

1. View Act I from Episode 21 – A Big Fish in a Little Pond. For Act 1, click on the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9byDevrIxss Watch this episode enough times so that you become familiar with the story.

2. Examine the hidden picture puzzle, First Flight. Identify and color the 17 objects embedded in the image. Bring your hidden picture puzzle to the class on 2009/06/13 to discuss your findings. Be prepared to describe the location of the objects using appropriate prepositional phrases.

3. The answer key for today’s hidden picture is: crown, pencil, handbell, bottle, toothbrush, megaphone, heart, fish, kite, paper clip, boot, pennant, crescent moon, glove.

4. Complete Unit #4 History Of Professional Baseball (pages 18~21).

i) Listen to the MP3 file for this unit.

ii) Word-process each “listening” vocabulary on your electronic template as spelled out by Frances, the Chinese translator.

iii) In your own words, word-process one sentence using any five of the “listening” vocabulary contextually. As always, do not use a dictionary.

iv) Listen to all 15 of the “vocabulary sentences” provided near the end of the unit just before the Listening Comprehension Questions.

v) Word-process the following four “vocabulary sentences” on your electronic template: #2, #8, #9, and #11.

vi) E-mail ii) + iii) + v) to winstontaiwan@gmail.com no later than 11:59 p.m. on 2009/06/11.

vii) While listening to the MP3 file, pay attention to Nathan and Patrica’s conversation and keep in mind the following questions:

01. Where is baseball popular?

02. What time will the teacher probably go to sleep tonight?

03. What kind of club does the teacher talk about?

04. What does Taiwan have throughout its cities?

05. What was the teacher charged for?

06. What did the teacher cut?

viii) Complete the Reading Comprehension Questions on page 19.

ix) Complete the exercises on pages 20~21

5. Complete Writing Exercise #2 on page 181. You are welcome to word-process your exercise and E-mail it as an attachment to winstontaiwan@gmail.com no later than 11:59 p.m. on 2009/06/11.

6. Look at Picture Story#7 – The Snowman comic strips and the accompanying story. Each letter is the first letter of a word and each line represents one single sentence. Each comic matches one sentence. Therefore, there are twelve comics with twelve corresponding sentences. Use the key words below to help guide you in writing the story. Note that all of the words are in lower case, yet some of them will begin with capital letters when you compose your story. Some of the words are used more than once. All but three of the words below represent text from your storyline. Therefore, three of the words below represent illustrations from your storyline.
