2. Complete Unit #20 Sushi For Summer (pages 76~78)

i) Listen to the MP3 file for this unit.

ii) Word-process each “listening” vocabulary on your electronic template as spelled out by Grace, the Chinese translator. Please word-process all of the words regardless if they are spelled out once or twice or if the words come from the dialogue.

iii) In your own words, word-process one sentence using each of the “listening” vocabulary contextually. As always, do not use a dictionary.

iv) Listen to all 9 of the “vocabulary sentences” provided near the end of the unit just before the Listening Comprehension Questions.

v) Word-process any five “vocabulary sentences” on your electronic template.

4. Look at the comic strips for Story #1 Off to School. The accompanying story is incomplete. Note that the story is written in the simple present tense. Each letter represents the first letter of a word and each line is one single sentence. Try your best to correctly choose each word represented by either an image or by the first letter(s) of the word. Each sentence represents one comic. Therefore, the nine comics correspond to the nine sentences that you will write.

i) You’re welcome to word-process your nine sentences for this story and E-mail it to winstontaiwan@gmail.com no later than 11:59 p.m. on 2009/03/26.

5. Using your MP3 file, listen to the passage from Unit #22 D-Day: A Decision Of War For Peace (page 82) repeatedly (over and over again) and read aloud the passage repeatedly until you master your recitation with perfect pronunciation and perfect fluency. You will recite the passage in class on approximately 2009/04/11. Your recitation will be recorded and analyzed. You will recite the passage by reading it the first time, then by memory the second time. Practice! Practice! Practice!

6. Examine the hidden picture puzzle, Roosevelt’s Teddy Bears. Identify and color the 36 objects embedded in the image. Bring your hidden picture puzzle to the class on 2009/03/28 to discuss your findings. Be prepared to describe the location of the objects using appropriate prepositional phrases.

5. Complete the Hide-and-Seek Challenge Hidden Picture worksheet. Paste or tape the little blue words under the heading “English”. Then write the correct number under the heading “Location”. For extra points you are welcome write by hand the English words instead of pasting them on the worksheet. For bonus points, you can write the Chinese translation beside the English word. Bring your worksheet back and the little plastic bag to the next class on 2009/03/28.

6. Cut out the words for Wordlists #1, 1a, 2, 2a, 3, and 3a. Put them in your wordlist box and review them often. Over time, you will have to be able to spell those words and be be able to say them.

7. Color and complete the phonics worksheet for Uu: up, umbrella, under, sun, jump. Bring it back to the next class on 2009/03/28.

8. Look at the picture with the two children making the letter “U”. Each of them is holding an umbrella. Color it and bring it back to the next class on 2009/03/28.

9. Bring your textbook, blue printing notebook, and plastic folder, to class on 2009/03/28.
